Built Together: Vote to Kick Arrives in Dimensional Double Shift
One of the best parts of building a multiplayer game in Early Access is that we get to build it alongside you, the players. Every bug report, Discord conversation, Steam discussion, support ticket, social media post, and in-game story helps us better understand what makes Dimensional Double Shift fun and, just as importantly, what gets in the way of that fun.
One piece of feedback has consistently risen to the top over the past several months: give players better tools to deal with disruptive behavior.
With Update 1.14, we're excited to introduce one of our most requested quality-of-life features: Vote to Kick.
A Community-Driven Update
When you're juggling Spore Lokos, throwing potatoes at ALICE, or trying to keep your shift from spiraling into complete workplace chaos, the last thing you want is someone intentionally making the experience worse for everyone else.
While the overwhelming majority of our community has been welcoming, hilarious, and eager to help new coworkers, we know that a single disruptive player can quickly derail an otherwise fantastic session.
You've told us that you wanted a way to handle those situations without having to simply leave a room and start over, and we heard you. Vote to Kick is a direct response to that feedback, giving players a way to work together to remove someone whose behavior is preventing the group from enjoying the game.
How It Works
The system is intentionally simple.
In parties of three or more players, anyone can initiate a vote to remove a disruptive player. If two players vote to kick the same person, that player will be removed from the current session.
Players who are removed can still request to rejoin the room, provided no one currently in that room has them blocked.
Our goal isn't to punish players, it's to give groups the ability to quickly get back to what matters most: having fun together.
Small Changes, Big Quality of Life
Update 1.14 also introduces a quicker way to leave your current session, so if you haven’t already, make sure to check out the full patch notes here.
A new button has been added to the hand menu, allowing players to simply press and hold to return to the lobby whenever they're ready to head somewhere new. Whether you're regrouping with friends or just wrapping up for the day, getting back into another shift should now feel a little smoother.
Thank You
Early Access has always been a conversation, not a finish line.
Features like Vote to Kick don't happen in a vacuum. They happen because this community continues to tell us what's working, what isn't, and what would make Dimensional Double Shift an even better place to play.
Your feedback has helped shape every update we've released, and Update 1.14 is no exception.
Thank you for continuing to share your experiences with us, whether it's through bug reports, feature requests, thoughtful discussions, or simply inviting new players into your favorite dimension.
We'll keep listening.
See you on your next shift.
